The Devil's Future
And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. - Revelation 20:7-10
Satan, the devil loves to try to keep us down in shame and regret bringing up our past over and over again. He wants us to live in the past, in defeat, when he had victory in our lives.
Romans 8:1 reminds us, however, that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. This is the wonderful free gift of salvation offered to us through the Blood of Jesus. God is the one who blots out our transgressions for His own sake, and He will not remember our sins (Isaiah 43:25). When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts as our Lord and Savior and follow Him, He is in us and we are in Him. (John 17:22-24) Since we believe and follow Jesus, we are in Him, we are part of the Body of Christ, the old has passed away and we are new creations. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
God's mercy is so great for His children that we read in Psalm 103:12 that our sins are removed from us as far as the east is from the west! This is basically a phrase that means that the distance is so great that it's immeasurable!
So, the next time you catch the devil trying remind you of your past mistakes, remind yourself that you are a new creation in Christ and remind him of his future in the lake of fire!
Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us so much that you sent your only begotten Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to pay for our sins.
Help us to remember that we have been set free from the past and set free from the power of sin. When temptation comes, help us to take the way out that you provide and help us to resist the devil and see him flee. Help us to live victorious in you and look forward with assurance to eternity with you. In Jesus' mighty name we pray and thank You. Amen.
