Bible Bites - Break Boulders + Move Mountains - Matthew 17:18-20
And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?" He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." - Matthew 17:18-20
Life is hard! No doubt about it! But, we're not alone, we are not powerless. The Devil is a liar and tells us we're alone, we're weak and powerless. But, greater is the one who is within than the one who is in the world! (1 John 4:4)
In Matthew 17:16, we read about a father who brought his son to the disciples to be healed. But the disciples failed. So the boy was brought to Jesus and Jesus rebuked the demon and it came out of the boy instantly!
When the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked why they couldn't cast out the demon, Jesus replied, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."
That's right, NOTHING will be impossible for you! But how do we get that kind of faith, which Jesus says is tiny, like a small mustard seed grain? Romans 10:17 gives us the key - So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
So, if we want to break those boulders and move those mountains, then we need to spend time reading and listening to the Word of God and have faith!
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, we pray that you bless us and help us to make more time to spend with you in your Word, building faith so that we can move those mountains that you call us to move, always remembering that we can do all things through Christ who is our strength. Help us to be bold and move in the power and authority that we've been given in the name of Jesus, that your Kingdom come and your will be done in us and on earth, just as it is done in heaven. In Jesus' mighty name we pray. Amen!
