Bible Bites - Psalm 37:9-10

Psalm 37:9-10

For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the land.
In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.

Wow! What an encouraging Word! I love this! In the previous verses we have been hearing from God through His Word that we should not be dismayed or upset when wickedness seems to prosper.
Here He assures us again of his plans for evildoers.

Though, evil may seem to have victory, God is not done yet! Evildoers will be cut off; they will be no more. The faithful who wait upon the Lord, they will inherit the land!

Hold on to faith in God, remembering that faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Pray and read the Bible. For some, like myself, it’s helpful sometimes to read and speak the Word aloud. If I see it, and say it, and hear it somehow I remember what I’ve read much better. When you are in the Word, your faith is building, you are building your relationship with God and are better able to recognize His voice in the many ways He speaks.

Remember, we are called to relationship, not ritual. Certain practices may help us, but the point is a personal relationship with Christ. That means we know Him and not just about Him.
When we have this personal relationship, when we keep our eyes on the Lord and continue to read and hear His Word, we will have His peace and we will be able to wait on the Lord. We will see evildoers cut off, the wicked come to nothing, and we will inherit the promises of God!

Let’s pray.
Lord, God Almighty, we thank You that You are sovereign above all. You are holy and just and wickedness will not prevail! Lord, we pray that You help us to spend quality time with You in your Word, knowing you more and more deeply and personally and growing in faith, trust and hope in you, not leaning on our own understanding.

We pray that we will be Christ-centered and Heavenly focused and that we will faithfully wait on you, not cowering in fear, but praying in faith. We pray Lord God that wickedness will be revealed and cut off. We pray that your people are faithful and inherit the land. We pray Lord God that your holy and perfect will be done in us, our family, in our nation, and on the earth, just as it is done in Heaven! In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen! Thanks be to God Almighty!
